The Jay Weber Show
6:00 to 10:00 AM Weekdays
A trip you don't want to miss – Limited to just 38 listeners!
Dear Listener,
I invite you to join me September 4 - 14, 2008 for an incredible journey of discovery, Explorer’s Egypt.
This will be my second annual “trip-of-a-lifetime” and it is going to be truly amazing.
We are going to take a journey through thousands of years of Egyptian history, from the
days of the pharaohs to present day Egypt. A team of top Egyptologists will be with
us to literally take us back in time as they tell us the story of their country and its
rich history. Throughout the trip, we’ll enjoy the comforts of 5-star hotels and one of
Egypt’s top riverboats.
WHAT WE’LL SEE
One of the first sights we’ll see is the sole survivor of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World – the
Pyramids of Giza. We’ll see them first because our first hotel is practically in the shadow of the
Pyramids. We’ll see the amazing Sphinx, the ancient Necropolis of Sakkara, the Temple of Karnak and
so much more. We’ll spend time in Giza, Luxor, Abu Simbel and Cairo, including a tour of the
renowned Egyptian Museum.
In addition to spectacular archaeological sites, ancient temples, monuments
and artifacts, we’ll get a good look at life in modern day Egypt during our
4-day luxury riverboat trip on the Nile. We’ll also see one of the world’s
truly great engineering achievements, the Aswan Dam.
OUR ITINERARY
My Explorer’s Egypt tour has been arranged by international travel experts Dennis and Peggy Crull, the
owners of Cruise & Tour, in conjunction with International Expeditions -- the same folks who arranged
my highly successful Galapagos Islands tour. The Crulls will accompany us on the trip to assure all of
us of an absolutely world-class travel experience. Our journey will take us first to Giza (outside of
Cairo), where the Pyramids and Sphinx are located, and then to Luxor where the Valley of the Kings is
located. From Luxor, our riverboat takes us on a 4-day trip up the Nile, visiting the riverfront cities of
Edfu and Aswan, both with incredible sights to see. From Aswan, we’ll fly to Abu Simbel to see
colossal stone figures of the pharaoh – something other tours charge hundreds more for as an option.
We’ve included it. We’ll then fly back to Cairo for our last two days.
ACCOMMODATIONS
From the Mena House Oberoi in Giza, to the Sonesta in Luxor and the Marriott in Cairo, all of our
hotels are amongst the best in Egypt. And our riverboat, the M/S Ti-Yi, without question is one of the
top riverboats operating on the Nile. You will enjoy the trip even more, knowing that at the end of
each day’s exploration, you’ll return to plush and comfortable surroundings in which to recount your
favorite memories of the day with fellow travelers.
TRAVEL DATES
We’ll depart on Thursday, September 4, 2008, arriving in Egypt the following day. (Labor Day is
September 1.) We will arrive back home on Sunday, September 14.
FLIGHT ARRANGEMENTS
I am delighted to tell you that we’ll begin our journey with the “Best Care in the Air”, flying from
Milwaukee to New York on Midwest Airlines. There, we’ll connect with our non-stop overnight flight to
Cairo, Egypt on Egyptair. Our return trip will involve all daytime flying, taking Egyptair non-stop from
Cairo to New York where we clear U.S. Customs, and then Midwest Airlines back to Milwaukee.
NOTE: DEPARTURE FROM OTHER CITIES IS POSSIBLE – PRICES WILL VARY. If you have
friends or relatives living elsewhere who would like to join you, they are certainly welcome.
