Day 3: Wednesday, September 08, 2010
Beijing

*LANGUAGE DISCOVERY:* Today, your Tour Manager will help you discover the origin and history of the language(s) you will experience on your tour along with key words and phrases that will help you communicate with the locals. A sightseeing tour of Beijing begins with a visit to the expansive and historic Tiananmen Square. Continue to the Forbidden City, a vast network of palaces, including five halls, seventeen palaces and numerous other buildings. You will also visit the UNESCO site of the Summer Palace, amongst the most noted classical gardens in the world. *Tonight, enjoy a Peking duck dinner and Opera.* Today breakfast, lunch and dinner will be included.

The Great Wall

*China’s legendary landmark, the Great Wall, is yours to discover today.* During your visit, you’ll have a chance to walk along a portion of this 3,700 mile marvel! Then, continue through the valley of the Ming Tombs to visit the extensive Sacred Way burial site, commissioned by Emperor Yongle in the 15th century. You will have time to experience a time-honored and favorite pastime of the Chinese when you go kite-flying! Today breakfast, lunch and dinner will be included.

Day 5: Friday, September 10, 2010
Beijing - Xi`an

Explore the world-famous Temple of Heaven, an ornate sanctuary where Chinese Emperors worshiped their gods. *Enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime rickshaw tour through the Hutongs, the narrow streets of ancient Beijing. Then visit a local home where you will share a simple lunch and learn the art of dumpling making.* A short flight brings you to China’s interior city of Xi`an where you will view the city wall before settling into your hotel. Today breakfast, lunch and dinner will be included.

Day 6: Saturday, September 11, 2010
Xi`an

This morning, enjoy a sightseeing tour of the city of Xi’an. *For lunch you will savor a local specialty, Xi`an dumplings, before traveling to the excavation site of the Terra-Cotta Warriors.* This army of men and horses was buried with the first Emperor of Qin to protect him in the afterlife. You will be amazed by the sheer number of them and their detailed features! Tonight, relive the glory and grandeur of the Tang Dynasty with a performance at the opulent Tang Dynasty Theater and Restaurant. Through music, dance and lavish costumes, highly gifted performers celebrate the history of Xi’an, a cultural crossroads on the Silk Road where exotic cultures blend beautifully with the ancient Tang culture. Feast on Cantonese cuisine, prepared by internationally-acclaimed chefs prior to the dance performance. Today breakfast, lunch and dinner will be included.

Xi`an - Guilin

Today you visit one of the most famous Buddhist temples in the world, the classical Wild Goose Pagoda. The impressive structure was built during the Tang Dynasty to house Buddhist treasures. An early afternoon flight whisks you from Xi`an to the beautiful city of Guilin, land of mystical landscapes of limestone karst pinnacles covered with lush vegetation. Upon arrival, visit the legendary Reed Flute Caves for a guided tour showcasing the spectacular underground scenery. Today breakfast and lunch will be included.

Day 8: Monday, September 13, 2010
Guilin

Begin this day to remember with a scenic cruise along the Li River to admire the landscapes that have been inspiring Chinese artists and poets for centuries. Be sure to keep an eye out for water buffalo! Enjoy a panoramic Yangshuo city tour before returning to your hotel for the evening. Today breakfast, lunch and dinner will be included.

Day 9: Tuesday, September 14, 2010
Guilin - Hong Kong

This morning, visit the legendary Reed Flute Caves for a guided tour showcasing the spectacular underground scenery. Afterwards, fly to Hong Kong, one of Asia’s most cosmopolitan and dynamic cities. You will stay in Kowloon, located in the heart of Hong Kong’s bustling shopping district. The remainder of your day is at leisure. Hong Kong is noted for fabulous savings on jewelry, silk and leather products. Today breakfast and lunch will be included.

Day 10: Wednesday, September 15, 2010
Hong Kong

This morning, enjoy a city tour that displays the architecture, culture and sights of Hong Kong. Begin with a ride across the harbor on the famous Star Ferry. Next, view the harbor, city and surrounding islands from high above after your ride to the top of Victoria eak via the Peak Tram. Next, head for Aberdeen where the contrast in Hong Kong lifestyles is never more evident. Your sampan cruise will take you amongst both fishing boats which double as people’s homes and multi-million dollar yachts. Pass lovely Repulse Bay on your way to Stanley Market where you’ll have time to shop for designer goods, brassware, porcelains, leather goods and other souvenirs. En route back to the hotel, stop and visit Jardine Market, an outdoor shopping street filled with every imaginable type of merchandise. It’s the type of shopping that can’t be missed when visiting Hong Kong! The afternoon is at leisure before joining Jay and the group for a cocktail party on wheels! Board double-decker streetcars where uniformed waiters will serve drinks as you travel the streets of Hong Kong. Today breakfast will be included.

Day 12:
Hong Kong

The entire day is at your leisure to explore all that Hong Kong has to offer before a farewell dinner with your fellow travellers. Today breakfast and dinner will be included.

Day 13:
Hong Kong- Homeward Bound

Your tour ends in Hong Kong but you will carry your memories of China with you as you make the journey home. Today breakfast will be included.
